SÜLZLE KOPF team adjusts facility to the precise centimeter

In December 2017, SÜLZLE KOPF Anlagenbau positioned a 12 chamber silo system for chippings in a new industrial warehouse in Dornbirn, Austria. The entire order covered construction planning, the production of all silo chambers including the steel construction as well as delivery logistics and the installation on-site. In cooperation with SÜLZLE Nutzeisen, the steel construction, having a weight of 33 tons, has been produced and welded in Sulz am Neckar.

The silo chambers  have also been produced in the housemade manufacture. The chambers with a weight of 7.5 tons have a length of 7.5 meters, a height of 2.23 meters and a width of 1.8 meters. Therefore, it has been a particular challenge to install the system on-site. The segments of the steel structure have been designed in a way that three systems with four silo chambers each could be pre-assembled by means of a special crane.

In Austria, the SÜLZLE KOPF team had to push four chambers mounted on the a steel construction through an intermediate ceiling three times without the possibility of using an indoor crane. Four hydraulic lifting struts helped positioning the system accurately to the centimeter. It has been important that the chambers can be lowered in the future for maintenance purposes.

Due to the detailed delivery logistics and the computer simulation of the installation process, the plant could be brought on line quickly and the whole installation has been completed in eight days only.
