AK-DOS® specifically removes trace substances

Drinking water from the water pipeline is of great importance in Germany and therefore also of good quality. Nevertheless, modern measuring methods are increasingly being used to detect drugs and other substances of human origin. SÜLZLE KOPF Anlagenbau has built a rental plant in Berlin, which is used for tests in the ASKURIS research project. The aim of the project is to investigate the targeted removal of trace substances, such as pharmaceuticals, which would otherwise not be sufficiently reduced during purification in the sewage treatment plant.
In the project period from July to November last year, an AK-DOS® activated carbon powder dosing system was erected by SÜLZLE KOPF Anlagenbau with a 21 metre high silo. The AK-DOS® rental plant is located in Berlin-Tegel and treats the water in the Nordgraben, which mainly comes from the Schönerlinde sewage treatment plant. The treated water is discharged into Lake Tegel, where the reduction of trace substances will significantly improve water quality.
The ASKURIS project is funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF). The rental plant was put into operation in February 2016 with the participation of all project participants.
